Motor vehicle accidents are the number one cause of death and serious injuries for teenagers.
Intersection or T-bone type crashes are very common. In the case of a side-impact crash, there is very little crumple zone or buffer area to absorb the shock, such as in a rear-end collision or even a head-on collision. While some vehicles have side impact air bags, overall, a rather thin door and window is all that separates the occupant and another striking vehicle.
