Video Animation Helps Tell Your Story

Every lawsuit is, at its core, a story. And it is the job of every lawyer to effectively communicate that story to a jury, to explain how these events have impacted a person’s life, and offer a clear explanation as to why this person is seeking damages. One very important tool that a lawyer can use, and one that we use here at The Cagle Law Firm, is a video animation explaining the injury and what procedures were done to fix that injury.

Often, juries won’t have an idea what it means to have something called a “posterior lumbar interbody fusion” or a “vertebral body replacement” performed. This is just medical jargon that, to the layperson untrained in medicine, makes very little sense. When a person is able to actually see a video animation of the incision, able to see the tools used, able to see what exactly was done to treat the injury, it makes it that much clearer in that juror’s mind as to what actually happened to the injured. We use video recreation of the surgery in such a way as not to be too graphic or too exploitative; a juror who may be squeamish about seeing blood or bone will have a much easier time processing the information if it’s shown as an animation.

Not only are these animations good for explaining surgical procedures, but they can also be good for explaining the accident and giving context to exactly what happened. Drawings on a diagram or still pictures can only convey so much information. If a juror is actually able to witness a re-creation of the accident, it allows the juror to put themselves in the shoes of the injured, imagining themselves in that situation. If a juror can empathize with the injured and can imagine how they would feel were they themselves injured, it makes it that much more likely that the juror will be sympathetic when it is time to award a verdict.

At The Cagle Law Firm, we pride ourselves on putting the client’s story first and capably explaining to the jury the events that caused the injury. Some attorneys may try to focus on a trial or lose focus of what is being argued and why. We take great pains here to make sure that we’re always listening to the client to make sure we are representing them in the way they deserve to be represented. And we will use every option we have to make sure that your story gets told in the most powerful way possible.
