Yesterday’s tractor-trailer crash resulted in a scary sight on Highway 370
A truck crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. yesterday involving a truck and two other vehicles. Two people in those vehicles suffered injuries and were taken to the hospital. The crash resulted in the semi-truck coming to rest dangling off the Discovery Bridge in St. Charles.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the truck cab was hanging off the bridge. The driver of the truck was able to get out of the truck, climb up the cab and make it to the bridge. According to reports, the truck driver was not injured, but the driver has quite a perilous story to share with family and friends.
At this time, no causes have been listed of the crash that injured two people and shut down traffic on Highway 370 for several hours.
The liquid soap had to offloaded to another truck and did not create a spill on the highway, however, there was a small diesel fuel leak from the truck’s fuel tank. Obviously, this could have been a far more serious crash involving other vehicles or dangerous substance being transported.
Truck crashes occur for a variety of reasons and generally speaking, a passenger vehicle that tangles with a tractor-trailer receives far more damage and potential injury for the occupants. Truck drivers are professionals and because they can transport up to 80,000 pounds, they are held to a higher level of safety regarding maintenance and driving performance. Transportation companies and their drivers must follow Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations regarding maintenance and operation of over-the-road vehicles.
If you’ve been involved in a crash with a truck accident and have been injured, you will need legal representation. Because truck accidents are different than passenger vehicle accidents, generally speaking it is a great idea to consult an experienced truck accident attorney.
