A 35 year-old Foley, Missouri man died as a result of a multiple vehicle crash near the northern edge of St. Charles County, Missouri.
It was reported that the Foley man of Lincoln County was driving behind another car when his Cavalier struck the back end of a pickup truck. The two vehicles were southbound on Highway 79, north of Dalbow Road in St. Charles County.
After the collision, both vehicles crossed into the northbound lanes and the pick-up struck a third car that overturned. The Foley man was not wearing a seat belt and a passenger of the Foley man, a 28 year old passenger was seriously injured.
The pick up driver suffered minor injuries and the third driver was not reported as hurt according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
While the cause of the above crash has not been officially identified by authorities, there are several common causes of motor vehicle accidents. The number one cause of crashes in inattentiveness. Inattentiveness can be anything from daydreaming to distracted driving.
Speeding is another common cause of car crashes as well. Often, rear-end crashes result from following to close or driving too fast for conditions. Rear-end collisions or clipping another vehicle on a busy highway at a normal rate of speed can lead to disastrous results.
Initial collisions on a highway can quickly escalate to involve other vehicles such as in head-on collisions and T-bone collisions. All of which can result in serious injuries or fatalities.
If you or a loved one has been injured or if you have lost a loved one in a motor vehicle crash, you should consult an attorney regardless of the cause. As a driver in a multi-vehicle crash, you may not be aware of all of the factors causing the crash and insurance companies may dispute or argue the liability or may say one of more drivers is partially at fault. Thus, it is important that you speak with a skilled car crash attorney before you speak with any insurance companies.
