In 2021, two people were killed in a car crash at North Grand Boulevard and Natural Bridge in North St. Louis, Missouri. The intersection camera captured the tragic accident. The video shows a green light for north and south traffic on Grand Boulevard at Natural Bridge when a westbound car on Natural Bridge sped into the intersection, clipped a car, and “t-boned” a Metro Call-A-Ride bus. The speeding car was traveling at such a fast rate it knocked the bus onto its side.
The two fatal victims were both from St. Louis; one was 19 years old, the other was 21 years old. Both of the victims were in the back seat of the speeding Pontiac Grand Prix. The accident occurred around 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2012.
A third vehicle, a 1996 Volvo, then struck the Grand Prix. The driver of that car, one 51-year-old woman was injured and taken to the hospital. The 21-year-old driver of the Grand Prix was treated at the hospital and released. He was taken into police custody, but as of Sunday, no charges had been filed. Investigators and police continue to investigate the accident and the video footage.
According to The St. Louis Post Dispatch, the metro van was empty, except for the driver, who was not seriously hurt. Two survivors were still hospitalized Tuesday night; one from the car that was clipped, the other, the front-seat passenger in the car that ran the light.
If you have been injured in an auto accident due to the negligence of another, such as using excessive speed, using alcohol or drugs, or engaging in distracted driving practices, you should at the very least contact a personal injury attorney. Contacting a personal injury attorney right away can ensure that valuable evidence from the crash is retained and not destroyed. While you may not always need an attorney, talking with one to learn your options and actions you should take is only protecting you and your loved ones.
